I have been called a lot of things in my life, some good and some not. Out of all the names hurled in my direction, only three cause me to lose sleep—husband, dad, and coach. These relationships can be strong, cruel, sudden, and they can save your life.
I will never say that I can master these relationships. They are never linear and far too dynamic. I consider self-awareness and self-reflection to be the gravel that fills most holes on the road to mastery. In my experience, being three-dimensional is what makes a strong husband, father, and coach. Odds are this will not make sense to you. The context around a three-dimensional man is a better fit for a conversation.
You must ebb and flow with every moment. Some situations call for a kick in the ass while others need a smile and hug. Knowing which one is needed at the right time can be considered an art.
